What Type of Senior Session Fits Your Teen’s Personality?

When it comes to senior portraits, one size definitely doesn’t fit all. Some seniors want bold and creative, others crave soft and sentimental, and plenty are somewhere in between. At Storybook Studios in Chesapeake, we believe senior photos should reflect who your teen actually is right now—their personality, their energy, and even their quirks. ✨

This guide breaks down different session styles we offer, based on personality and aesthetic, to help you and your teen find a look that feels like them.

1. The Dreamer — Whimsical & Romantic 🌸
Soft light, wildflowers, vintage books, flowing dresses. This session feels like stepping into a fairy tale. Perfect for the senior who sees the magic in everyday moments.

Props to consider: flower crowns, flowing dresses, antique mirrors, lanterns, handwritten letters

2. The Rebel — Edgy & Bold 🖤🔥
Dark shadows, city textures, or something totally out-of-the-box. These sessions have attitude and are made for the teen who doesn’t follow trends—they start them.

Props to consider: leather jackets, smoke bombs, electric guitars, combat boots, neon lights

3. The Creator — Artistic & Intentional 🎨📸
Think painterly light, thoughtful styling, and quiet moments that feel like art. Perfect for artists, writers, and those with deep thoughts and big imaginations.

Props to consider: sketchbooks, paintbrushes, instruments, mood boards, poetry books

4. The Storyteller — Personal & Symbolic 💌📚
These sessions tell a chapter of your senior’s life—including the people, memories, and milestones that shaped them. Great for sentimental souls or teens with a strong sense of identity.

Props to consider: baby photos, memory boxes, sports jerseys, cultural elements, handwritten notes

5. The Naturalist — Outdoorsy & Organic 🌿🐾
For the senior who’d rather be barefoot in the woods or paddling a kayak. These sessions are rooted in natural beauty, earthy colors, and candid moments.

Props to consider: boots, hammocks, nature trails, pets, picnic setups, wildflowers

6. The Icon — Styled & Cinematic 🎬💫
Inspired by high fashion, movies, or even pop culture, these sessions are ultra-visual. Ideal for seniors who love to express themselves through clothing or dramatic themes.

Props to consider: dramatic lighting, fashion accessories, vintage cars, themed backdrops

How to Choose? 🤔
If your teen connects with more than one style—great! We often combine aesthetics or shoot multiple looks in one session. Our goal is for them to walk away feeling seen, celebrated, and proud of who they are.
