I finally get to show one of my favorite Ireland images. I had to keep it under wraps because I had entered it in the State and the International Photography Competitions, in which it did well.
The Dark Hedges is an avenue of beech trees along a road in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The trees form an atmospheric tunnel that has been used as a location in HBO's popular television series Game of Thrones. There were hundreds of tourists there when I drove up...busses lined the tiny Irish street. I thought there is no way I was going to get the shot that I envisioned in my mind. I had to drive and park about a mile away. I had to walk through a Fairy Forest (I'm NOT kidding) to get to the Dark Hedges. The fairy trail was lined with tiny fairy houses along the way. It was so magical! After taking a hundred photos of the fairy trail, I arrived at the Dark Hedges. Somehow, there were only two people walking through it! I couldn't believe it. I swear...these things happen to me all of the time. It's Storybook Magic!
